Kia Sedona: Yaw-rate and G Sensor Description and Operation - ESC(Electronic Stability Control) System - Brake System - Kia Sedona YP Service ManualKia Sedona: Yaw-rate and G Sensor Description and Operation

Third generation YP (2014-2025) / Kia Sedona YP Service Manual / Brake System / ESC(Electronic Stability Control) System / Yaw-rate and G Sensor Description and Operation

Description
The yaw rate and G sensor is included inside the air bag control module (SRSCM).
When the vehicle is turning with respect to a vertical axis the yaw rate sensor detects the yaw rate electronically by the vibration change of plate fork inside the yaw rate sensor.
If yaw velocity reaches a certain level after it detected the vehicle''s yawing, the ESC control is reactivated.
The lateral G sensor senses vehicle''s lateral G force. A small element inside the sensor is attached to a deflectable leverarm by lateral G force.
Direction and magnitude of lateral G loaded to vehicle can be known with electrostatic capacity changing according to lateral G.
